Mezzosoprano Carol Garcia was born in Sabadell (Barcelona) and started studying piano and choral singing when she was 9 with María José Toledano. She achieved the middle degree in piano and stayed active in choral singing during 12 years taking part in productions like Carmina Burana. She has been member of "Camerata Sant Cugat", directed by Xavier Baulíes, taking part in productions like Mozart's Requiem (Barcelona's Palau de la Música, among other) and Haendel's Messiah (Auditorio de Sant Cugat). She has been member of Barcelona Cathedral Choir during 6 months under the direction of Jorge Coré. In the summer 05 - 06 she took part in the C.H.O.I.R in Ochsenhausen (Germany) conducted by Christoph Schönherr.
She has participated in three different editions of the international singing course offered by Camerata Sant Cugat and has been awarded twice with a scholarship. Awarded by "Fundación Aragall" and invited by "Fundación Clarós" to participate to a benefit next to Juan Diego Flórez, Raúl Giménez, Cristina Obregón, Joan Pons, Carlos Daza, Dalmau González, David Alegret, Montserrat Torruella and Mireia Pintó among other, being mentioned as one of the public's favorite. She has worked with Marisa Roca and she actually receives voice lessons from mezzosoprano Francesca Roig.
She has been semifinalist of Montserrat Caballé singing contest 08, finalist of Luis Mariano singing contest 09 awarded with the second prize for female voices and finalist of Francisco Viñas Competition 09, being awarded with a scholarship and with the special prize “Grupo de liceístas del 4º y 5º piso” as the most promising spanish singer.
She has achieved a teacher's degree in musical education at the UAB. She has directed the children's choir "el Vallès" for four years. she has attended masterclasses with Enrico Gavarini, Enrique Baquerizo, Miguel Ortega, Francesca Roig, Montserrat Caballé, Jaume Aragall and Carlos Chausson. Debut as Rosina "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" at Madrid's Teatro Real, working next to Raúl Giménez, Emilio Sagi and Philippe Bach. She has sung the role again with "Concerlírica Internacional". She has been chosen by "Petit Liceu" to sing Angelina in "La Cenerentola" directed by Comediants from November 2008. Later she has done this title role at Opera's festival of Tenerife 09 directed by Giancarlo del Mónaco.
She has been admitted by Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra National de Paris to take part in the new season from October 2009.
Recently she did the cover of Rosina in "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" in Opera Bastille in march-april with Bruno Campanella as a musical director.
Next engagements for 2010 include Adonella in Francesca da Rimini (Zandonai), with Roberto Alagna and with Giancarlo del Mónaco as a stage director in Opera Bastille, L'Heure Spagnol (Concepción), Il Barbiere di Siviglia en Massy's Opera and "El Amor Brujo" (Falla) in Barcelona.
She has worked with the following accompanists: Manel Ruiz, Elena Kolesnikova, Miquel Ortega, Vladislav Bronevetzky, Mark Hastings, Stanislav Angelov, Marco Evangelisti, Patxi Aizpiri, Marta Pujol, Olga Kharitonina and Robert Tévar.
