Biography

Mezzosoprano Carol Garcia was born in Barcelona and receives voice lessons from mezzo-soprano Francesca Roig.

She has been awarded twice with the international singing course offered by Camerata Sant Cugat, semifinalist of Montserrat Caballé singing contest 08, finalist of Luis Mariano singing contest 09 awarded with the second prize for female voices, finalist of Francisco Viñas Competition 09, being awarded with a scholarship and with the special prize “Grupo de liceístas del 4º y 5º piso” as the most promising spanish singer and finalist of the singing contest "Paris Opera Competition" in november 2010.

 

She made her debut as Rosina Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Madrid's Teatro Real, She has sung the role again with "Concerlírica Internacional". She has been chosen by "Petit Liceu" to sing Angelina in La Cenerentola directed by Comediants from November 2008 and later she has done this title role at Opera's festival of Tenerife 09 directed by Giancarlo del Mónaco.

 

In 2009, she has been admitted by Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra National de Paris, where she sings Les Madrigaux de Philippe Fénelon at Palais Garnier, the Spanische liebes-lieder (schumann) and Hortenzia (Mirandolina from Martinû) in MC93Bobigny. She participes in the Atelier Lyrique's concert in Palais Garnier with the Paris National Opera Orchestra.

 

In april 2010 she did the cover of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Opera Bastille with Bruno Campanella and Coline Serreau.

Recently she sang in Opera Bastille Suor Angelica (2a Cercatrice) and Le nozze di Figaro (Due donne/cover Cherubino) under the direction of Philippe Jordan and Dan Attinger, Francesca da Rimini (Adonella), with Daniel Oren and Giancarlo del Mónaco in Opera Bastille, Street Scene (Jenny Hildebrand) with Jeff Cohen, a concert in Palais Garnier with the Paris National's orchestra with Marius Stieghorst, and L'Heure Spagnole (Concepción) with J.L. Tingaud and Marc Paquien.

 

She has attended masterclasses with Enrique Baquerizo, Miguel Ortega, Francesca Roig, Montserrat Caballé, Jaume Aragall, Carlos Chausson, Ann Murray and Michelle Wegwart.

She has worked with the following accompanists: Manel Ruiz, Miquel Ortega, Vladislav Bronevetzky, Mark Hastings, Stanislav Angelov, Marco Evangelisti, Patxi Aizpiri, Marta Pujol and Jean-Marc Bouget, between others.

 

Next engagements include , Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina) at Massy's Opera in 2011-2012 with Dominique Rouits and Frédéric Bélier-Garcia and in Opera National de Bordeaux in 2012-2013, El Amor Brujo (Falla) in Barcelona, Il Farnace (Selinda) in Opera National du Rhin, Concertgebown (Amsterdam) and Mulhouse with Diego Fasolis, and Manon (Javotte) with Evelino Pido/Coline Serreau and L'Amour des trois oranges (Linette) with A. Altinoglu/Gilbert Deflo in Opera Bastille.
